From a woman who conceived naturally after she was told that her next step was IVF.

In March of 2005, I was diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome after a major blood clot was discovered in my femoral artery. During this time, I was instructed to stop taking birth control pills since they were a contributing factor to my clotting problems.

Three months passed, and I became concerned that my menstrual cycle had never resumed, so I went to my OBGYN. I was told that my body was just getting used to functioning without birth control pills. However, after another three months had passed without a menstrual cycle, I was referred to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. Numerous tests later, I was told that I had a mild case of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. This was devastating news since my husband and I had decided that we wanted to start trying to get pregnant.

After a few unsuccessful months of trying to conceive naturally, I went back to my RE and tried three rounds of Clomid and two rounds of Letrozole. Since I wasn’t producing quality eggs using either drug, my husband and I were told that the next step would be IUI or IVF.

Around this same time, a friend of mine began telling me about her success with acupuncture. That same night, I started researching acupuncture for fertility on the internet and came across Jane Gleeson’s profile on acupuncture.com. Since I had nothing to loose, I called the next day to set up my first appointment.

When I first met Jane, she was very warm and friendly and took her time getting to know my lifestyle and medical history. The concept of trying to treat the body as a “whole” made much more sense to me than trying to treat every ailment as an individual problem.

After a few sessions with Jane, my menstrual cycle returned like clockwork. I also felt more relaxed and at peace with myself, and my husband and I decided to take our fertility issues in stride. Just a two short months after having attended weekly acupuncture sessions and taking Chinese herbs, I became pregnant with our first child!

In the beginning, I was somewhat skeptical about the concept of Chinese medicine and its effectiveness. Like most Westerners, my theory was that if you’re sick, you take a pill. However, after having experienced fist hand that this theory doesn’t’ work, I knew that there had to be an alternative method to treating infertility. In my opinion, Chinese medicine is that alternative, and has made all the difference in my life. I was able to conceive naturally using nothing other than acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

I would highly recommend Jane Gleeson and acupuncture to anyone couple who is having trouble conceiving.
